You can follow any or all of the steps given below

  1. Use a sharp knife to cut onions - It will reduce the amount of enzymes release.
  2. Put onions into the fridge for few minutes before cutting them.
  3. Wear gas-tight goggles or a mask.
  4. Cut the onion under water.
  5. Cut near an open flame.
